Effects of artemisinin on cardiac function and fibrosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy rats
Objective:To observe the effects of artemisinin on cardiac function and fibrosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy rats. MethodsEight Wistar rats were randomly selected as normal group, and the other rats were created as diabetic models by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin. After 16 weeks, the diabetic models were set up successfully after the test, and were randomly divided into diabetic cardiomyopathy group and artemisinin group, 8 in each group. Each group was intervened respectively. The myocardial pathology structure was observed by HE staining. The content of collagen was detected by Masson staining, and cardiac function was measured by Echocardiography. Results:Compared with normal group, the expression of fibrosis increased obviously in diabetic cardiomyopathy group(P<0.01), and E/A, LVEF and FS decreased obviously, and cardiac systolic and diastolic function decreased obviously. Compared with diabetic cardiomyopathy group, the expression of fibrosis decreased obviously(P<0.01), E/A, LVEF and FS increased(P<0.01), and cardiac systolic and diastolic function improved obviously. Conclusion:Artemisinin may improve cardiac function of rats by attenuate myocardial fibrosis.
