Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of “Haizao Muli Xiaoying Decoction” combined with western medicine on the treatment for hyperthyroidism  Methods:164 patients with hyperthyroidism were randomly divided into treatment group and control group equally. The control group was treated with methimazole, and the treatment group was treated with “Haizao Muli Xiaoying Decoction” based on the control group. The course of the two groups was 3 months. The therapeutic effect and adverse reaction were observed, and the recurrence of 1 year follow-up was observed, at the same time, syndrome score, levels of thyroid hormone (TT3, TT4, FT3, FT4 and TSH) were compared  Results:① 80 cases had completed in the test.② The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 95.00% and 82.50% respectively; there was statistically difference of the clinical efficacy between the two groups (P<0.05).③ After the treatment, there was statistically difference in TCM syndrome score, levels of TT3, TT4, FT3, FT4 and TSH (P<0.05). ④ There were statistically difference in recurrence rate between the two groups (P<0.05). ⑤ There was no significant difference between the two groups in adverse reaction (P<0.05)  Conclusion:“Haizao Muli Xiaoying Decoction” combined with western medicine on the treatment of hyperthyroidism can relief syndrome, regulating the levels of thyroid hormone, and can significantly reduce the recurrence rate.
