Objective:This paper is to observe the clinical effect of the treatment with “Yiqi Huoxue Huatan Decoction” on senile patients of low extremity atherosclerotic disease(LEAD) of asymptomatic period   Methods:70 cases of aged patients with asymptomatic LEAD were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, and there are 35cases in each group. The control group was given Simvastatin and the treatment group was added using of “Yiqi Huoxue Huatan Decoctionin” on the basis of the control group. The course of treatment of the both groups was 12 weeks. The changes of clinical symptoms, ABI and IMT were observed during the course  Results:①Compared before and after the treatment, the difference of clinical symptoms of TCM in both groups were statistically significant (P<0.05);compared after treatment of the two groups, the D-value of clinical symptoms of TCM were statistically significant(P<0.05). ②Compared before and after treatment, the difference in the level of ABI and the thickness of IMT were statistically significant (P<0.05); compared after treatment between the two groups, the D-value of level of ABI and thickness of IMT was statistically(P<0.05)  Conclusion:The treatment of the early intervention period of asymptomatic atherosclerosis of the lower extremities by “Yiqi Huoxue Huatan Decoction” can significantly improved vascular elasticity and polish up Lower limb function of patients, and can delay the progress of LEAD.
