Clinical study of electro-acupuncture therapy of different frequencies for the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of electro-acupuncture therapy of different frequencies in treating cervical spondylotic radiculopathy Methods:Ninety-four cases were randomized into group Ⅰ (n=31), group Ⅱ (n=31) and group Ⅲ (n=32). These three groups were treated by electro-acupuncture therapy on bilateral Dazhu (BL11), Tianzhu (B 10) and neck Paravertebrals of 2 Hz, 50 Hz and 100 Hz respectively. After treated for 14 times, we observed the clinical efficacy, neck pain, radiating pain and numbness of upper neck top and upper limbs, and squeezing test was conducted Results:The total effective rate was 80.6% in group Ⅰ, 83.9% in group Ⅱ and 93.8% in group Ⅲ; clinical efficacy of the in group Ⅲ was superior to that of the group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ (P<0.05). After treatment, the neck pain score was reduced in group Ⅰ (P<0.05), and scores of the neck pain, radiating pain or numbness of upper neck top and upper limbs were decreased markedly in group Ⅱ (P<0.05), and scores of the neck pain, radiating pain or numbness of upper neck top and upper limbs and squeezing test were reduced markedly (P<0.05). After treatment, there were significant differences in scores of radiating pain or numbness of upper neck top and upper limbs and squeezing test between group Ⅲ and group Ⅰ (P<0.05). There were significant difference in foramen intervertebrale squeezing test between group Ⅲ and group Ⅱ (P<0.05). No significant difference was found in indicators between group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ (P>0.05) Conclusion:Electro-acupuncture therapy of different frequency can improve the symptoms and signs such as neck pain, radiating pain and numbness of upper neck top and upper limbs and so on, especially the high- frequency electro-acupuncture.
