Clinical observation of “Yiqi Huoxue Zhuanggu Formula” on bone mineral density and bone metabolism of elder patients with osteoporosis complicated with stable coronary heart disease
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of “Yiqi Huoxue Zhuanggu Formula” and western medicine in treating coronary heart disease (CHD) in stable phase complicated with osteoporosis. Methods Two hundred cases with stable CHD complicated with osteoporosis were randomized into treatment group and control group by random number table, with 100 cases in each group. Control group was treated with western medicine, and treatment group was treated with “Yiqi Huoxue Zhuanggu Formula” additionally, with the course of 3 months. The clinical efficacy, and changes of bone mineral density (BMD), bone metabolism indexes (CTX-1, BGP) and cardiac function indexes (LVEF, LVEDP) were observed and compared before and after treatment. Results: ① One hundred finished the trail. Ten cases in the treatment group were lost, and 10 cases in the control group were lost. ② The total effective rate was 91.11% in the treatment group and 80.00% in the control group, with significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). ③ In both groups, there were significant differences in the levels of BMD, CTX-1 and BGP, and cardiac function indexes (LVEF, LVEDP) between before and after treatment (P<0.05); after treatment, there were significant differences in the levels of BMD, CTX-1, BGP and cardiac function indexes (LVEF, LVEDP) between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: Combined “Yiqi Huoxue Zhuanggu Formula” and western medicine is effective to treat coronary heart disease (CHD) complicated with osteoporosis by improving bone mineral density, bone metabolism and cardiac function.
